Constitutional Ratification

At the following link is a series of Primary documents.

After reviewing the documents, each group needs to complete the 10 question review sheet. Students may create their own groups or work individually. Students choosing to work in groups will be given one grade.

September 8, 2008

U.S. Constitution

Each group will review one Article of the Constitution (including all the Sections).

Groups will summarize their Article in a Google Presentation, that they will later use to present to the class.

Article reviews should include:

  • Summary of Article generally
  • Summary of each Section
  • Clarification of Powers and Limits of Power
  • A link at the end to a news article that relates to their Article today

Constitutional Process

Today we will look at the Constitutional Process. From the mess of the Articles Government, the delegates took necessary, if quasi-illegal, action.

All tables will go the following link: Constitutional Topics

Once there, assigned tables will read one of the specific plans talked about. Each group will:
  • Read the summary of the plan (Secondary Source)
  • Follow the link to the actual text of the plan (Primary Source)
  • Identify the key Articles or passages of the primary source
  • Prepare a summary of how the particular plans reveal regional perspective at the Convention (The United States of America are versus The United States of America is)
We then will discuss the plans as a class, with each group prepared to advocate for their particular plan.
